I know it seems like it is so far away, but I'm sure the final bell on May 23rd will be ringing much sooner than I ever thought possible. (Time seems to move faster now that I have a baby.) So, with that in mind, I thought what better to share than my end of the year evaluations.

I make my students evaluate themselves often, because I think the more critical they are of their work level...hopefully, the more effort they will give. Before I send home report cards, I meet with my students to talk about their report card. We discuss their grades, and then they fill out their own personal evaluation. These evaluations come in handy for 1st and 3rd quarter conferences. I let the students use them to run their own conference. OR...if the student can't come (or shouldn't be there due to content to be discussed) then it helps me structure the conference as well.
What I like about these end of the year evaluations is that they really put a closing on the year and still give the student the idea that each grade is linked. This is especially helpful, because for the past two years I have looped with my students and I like them to goal set for the upcoming year with me.
Now to check out The Clutter-Free Classroom...moving my classroom over the summer means a great chance to get rid of all those items that I will "definitely use" and never touch again!

Halfway Over
So way back at the beginning of Christmas Break, I had all these grand ideas of using my maternity leave to get my new blog up and running as well as transfer files from my class website to this blog that was yet to exist. Now it's mid-February, and I am finally getting my start on this whole blog idea I had and also realizing that I only have half of my maternity leave to spend with my precious girl. The second fact makes me want to hop under the covers with my baby girl and never come out. She's just too cute to leave for whole school days at a time.

So I guess we will see how much I get accomplished by April 2nd - the official back to school day. Wish me luck...with this cutie around, I'm not sure how much I will get completed in this second half!
